COP27: Safeguarding Indigenous Peoples from the adverse impacts of climate finance projects
This side event at COP27, co-hosted by the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL), the Indigenous Peoples' International Centre for Policy Research and Education (Tebtebba) and the Independent Redress Mechanism (IRM) discussed how Indigenous Peoples have been impacted by large-scale climate finance projects, and how grievance accountability entities like the IRM have helped provide recourse to Indigenous Peoples and others who have been affected by development projects.
